Day 53

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It's a gloomy day in Sydney, Australia, 15.23.

Soon I'll go outside for a walk, because it looks like it's not the right day for looking for a job, as everytime I check the websites I don't find anything interesting.

Boh.

Also not having the meal I used to receive at work is a small/medium problem.

I've many things to think at, many worries and thing I should do; but for a reason or another it's difficult, and because of this, frustrating.

I miss having somebody to comfort me and having someone close from time to time (I mean a special person).

But I'm also happy to be in a new place where I can do (almost) everything I want...

Day 51 - 52

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In these 2 days nothing new happened, except for the fact that I'm obviously looking for a job and that Melbourn is becoming always more interesting because of the quality and the many festivals/headquarters of things relevant to my interests.

Saturday there will be the Mardi Gras parade, the festival that celebrates sexuality in all of its forms (gay, lesbian, trans etc); people from all over the world come to see it.

I'm on the bus heading to Bronte, and when going through Oxford St, known because of its gay clubs, I felt from the fittings that it will be a big thing: also the pedestrian crossing sign was painted with the rainbow colours!

I'm going to see the parade, as the only perk of not having a job is that I've much more spare time. I can also go to see the Darling Harbour fireworks, as I used to work on Saturday night. We're also going to the beach on Friday, to Bondi, the most famous beach of Sydney (but not the best).
I'm curious of how the new Italian government will behave..
The research of a job goes on with no news, because of  the same reason, that I've not a qualification in the most requested sectors.

I'm thinking about doing a programming course, but it's just (another) thing in my mind.

Day 50 - Fuck

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

At my 50° day here, on Monday, I lost my job.
And it was awful.
Not because of the fact itself, more for the various coincedencens that happened before.

Irony kills.

16:20: after spilling my coffee and manu other small things that piss me off I succeeded in blocking my sim. Luckily the unlocking didn't take much time, I went to World Square and in 2 minutes I was done. I just wanted to set up my voicemail, but I'll do that when I'll be more calm.

domenica 24 febbraio 2013

Day 49

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Once again I couldn't sleep before 2am, despite my attempts.
Today nothing special (as always); cleaning, rest and tonight work; but later I'm going out, as finally it's Sunday and tomorrow it's my day off!

I hope the weather will be good, so we can go to Newtown!

sabato 23 febbraio 2013

Day 47 - 48

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yesterday nothing particular happened, the evening we went to play a couple of hours just to do something.
Today double work; cleaning the hostel I could find some weird things, like:

- sexy underwear (female) abbandoned in the laundry
- a pillow in the computer room
- forgotten earphones of a customer who left
- people who changes their pillow with the one of the people who has to come (just ask, assholes!)
- a plate of pasta wich is waiting for somebody brave enough to eat it as it's been there since yesterday night, etc etc

Yawn, I'm sleepy. I'll cook anad then I'll try to rest for a while.

giovedì 21 febbraio 2013

Day 46

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There's nothing to do, sometimes I simply can't shake off my head that (maybe) I could just have one thing to be happy (at least for a while).

And so I wander, debated between what I think I want for me, what would be better for me, what I've to do everyday, what I need, without finding out which one I should choose (of these).

But let's go back to the news.

Cleaning in the morning, chilling/research/afternoon updates and now swearing because of the lunch preparation: I'll improvise.

This evening shift, and when I'll come back I'll have to go to bed soon, otherwise tomorrow morning I'll be a zombie like today.

mercoledì 20 febbraio 2013

Day 44 - 45

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yesterday nothing special happened, while today I did the cleaning in the morning, went to get my wage in the afternoon and bought some groceries, this time with the news of the Korean food, that I cooked for lunch with no hesitation.

Friday I'll cook these things again, I hope not to make a mess altough a native is helping me :D

The night we tried again to play Starcraft2 in another Internet Cafè; this one was much better than the previous, but the problem came out again. Looks like we can't use our country's account, therefore maybe I will not be able to play at the tournament in the first days of March.. Sad :(

A nice (and sometimes bad) thing of the hostel is that people goes to party every day of the week, with no particular reason. But I can't do that :( (also physically).

Sometimes I think how it would be if my friends were here (I think at you, friends)! It would be cool for a while (EDIT: Very cool) but as for the last (Italian) summer, it would be a thing that I'd like to do for a long time, also if uthopic!

lunedì 18 febbraio 2013

Day 43

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Laundry tomorrow, today I playied Pokemon and relaxed a lot. In the evening I went a couple of hours in a internet cafè with some mates to play, was funny.

domenica 17 febbraio 2013

Day 42

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After finishing the cleaning, I'm waiting for the evening shift to start.
Yesterday I forgot my dinner at the restaurant, as I was very tired.
Tomorrow laundrym and I'll see if I can do something in the little spare time I have.

sabato 16 febbraio 2013

Hostel's Micro Cosm

Altre categorie & english translation soon!

Day 41

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Second day of work in the hostel, today I did some different tasks, but more or less they're always the same. Also if sleepy, I can do it.

I'll start work at 18: I took back my Sunday shift, that I refused because I should have gone to the zoo. But as I've to work in the hostel, I'll do it just to get some more money.

In a month circa we're moving to north, that's for sure.

Today after the cleaning, the boss offered the lunch: Subway, where once again I noticed that I've to improve my English comprehension (and also learn how Subway works too).

FFFFF, seems Sunday but it isn't.

Day 40

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Disinfecting wounds with vodka: done.
And this is the minimum of the things I did yesterday..
The worst part was this morning, as I've started working in the hostel.
I was a zombie wandering around with a mop and a ghost face; it was told me that the boss wasn't very happy (read: fuckin' angry).

Once finished what looked an endless cleaning, I collapsed in bed.
Apparently we've been partying until 4am, singing and making noise, me in my bathrobe half naked jumping on a bed and some other stuff.

Whatever.
Sadly, I can't go to the acquarium and zoo because I've to work in the morning..

I spent the day doing quiet activities, trying to recover. After being closed between these walls, in the evening  I went with John to the bottle shop in Broadway, a 40 minutes walk going and coming back.

The night I went to the 3 Wise Monkeys pub, just to  change location: and coincidentally the band playing was the same of the first day I arrived in Sydney!
It was curious, and I flew with my mind back to 1 month and 13 days ago, and for a while I felt like that day.

Altough I went to sleep early, I couldn't fall asleep before 1 hour, and I was waken up at 4am by people coming back: in that moment over hating the fact that I can have a deep as light sleep, I decided to write a post about the people in the hostel; you'll find it soon on these frequences.

Day 38 - 39

Sabato e domenica visite culturali: sabato all'acquario e domenica allo zoo ($$$).

ThoR

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yesterday nothing particular happened, (finally)  it was my day off so I could rest for a while. The idea was going to the beach but the bad weather which has been for the past 2 weeks continued so we couldn't go.
In the evening I had dinner in Bronte (as you can see I took another picture of the beach) at Sara's, Simone's and Paolo's house.

Today, Thursday 14, I finally did a thing I should have done 2 weeks ago: I went to see the EA's office here in Sydney, as it's not far. To be honest I didn't see a lot, but I went to the floor which the office is.
It was exciting anyway, being in one of those skyscrapers that you can see when walking by the city; I wonder how cool it would be to work there.

Yesterday night another thing came up while talking: if I want to find a job in a videogaming company it could be necessary to go back studying. And this could be a problem, for the subjects more than else (applied maths etc.).
Studying in Australia is very expensive; if I wanted to start studying I should work too and this is very difficult as I should study in the hostel too.

Impossible.

I sent a couple emails to (gaming) software houses here in Sydney applicating as volounteer/slave to get some experience and to see how it's working in it, but I still haven't received an answer.

Tonight I'm working, tomorrow party hard because of my (already) 21 years.

Saturday and Sunday cultural days: on Saturday I'll go to the acquarium and on Sunday to the zoo (expensive $$$).
But at least I'll see some (other) animal that will remind me that I'm in Australia.

As the picture above.

For today it's all.

Day 37

Clever! Good luck.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yesterday night was a pretty (alcoholic) animated night, as we threw a party for a couple of guys leaving.
Result? I've discovered once again that I almost never get a hangover, but I smashed my elbow against a couch yesterdays, and it hurst like hell. Ouch!

I had as a night mate (she slept on the bunk over me) a German girl that to get money plays guitar on the streets. And gains a lot! More than 100$ in 2  hours! And she's used to couchsurfing so can save up a lot.. Clever! Wish you good luck.

Todays plan  are to tidy my part of the room, and this night working; I'll hear about the staff party on the boat were I didn't go as I was (almost) leaving for the farms.

domenica 10 febbraio 2013

Day 28 - 29

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The goal of the first month far from home is close: I'll dedicate it a long and detailed vlog.
I've taken off IYKWIM..

Day 38

Mi piacerebbe sapere com'è in Italia.. Vedo molte foto di carnevale, giusto?

Divertitevi!

Sto aspettando di andare a lavoro.. zzz..

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I spent this sleepy morning on the couch in the front of the hostel's reception talking with mates.

The news it's that I'll start being part of the cleaning staff of the hostel, so I'll not have to pay the rent anymore.. Almost 90% of what I'll gain from my work will be saved :D

The cleaning hours are not that good, (10 - 12 am) because I can't work in the morning,..
I'll see what I can find.

I can always leave the restaurant job, altough I'm used to it.

I'd like to know the situation in Italy.. It's Carnival time, right?

Have fun!

I'm waiting for my shift... Zzz..

sabato 9 febbraio 2013

Day 37

We will see.

Thomas

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As I anticipated yesterday, I quit the job at midday, because after only 2 lawns done more than 4 hours had already passed, and as the pays is based on the lawns done and not hourly it wasn't worth it.

Altough a little sad, my employer gave me 50$ that I used to pay my meal aat Hungry Jack's, a 6 beers pack (10$, German, one of the cheapest). Danilo, a German guy and me remembered  to have some vouchers for free samples in various shops in World Square, that's a 5 minutes walk from the hostel. It was funny going from a place to another and trying so much different food (also after 2 whoppers ;).

For the night I stayied in the hostel, talking with people with my usual drink.

For today, Saturday 9th, we should have had a barbecue on the beach, but as I was the only one waking up at the right time (10, as decided and I'm also the one who's sleeping less, bastards!) and all the others were still sleeping, I understood that there would have been no barbecue and went back to sleep.

When I woke up I remembered a detail: I've decided that as a person is leaving soon I'll take her place as cleaner: in this way I'll have free accomodation (I'll not pay the rent in exchange of an hour cleaning per days :D).

This way, all I gain will be all saved, excluding the groceries.

Soon I'll have to go to work, altough with my tiredness the will is at a mimimum level.

This night I'll probably go out (as it is right to be, it's Saturday in the end!).

The plans are changed again: after having tried (in a small way) how it's to be working under the sun, dressed  properly, I'm not that sure to want a farm job (as a picker at least) unless I find the right one.

The actual goal is to save some money and leave for a holiday here in Australia in a few months..

We'll see..

Thomas.

giovedì 7 febbraio 2013

Day 35 - 36

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Morning thought: when I think back to Italy, I notice that I could never do as I do here: surviving with a "casual" job as kitchen hand and looking for a second job (to get more money or just to not waste time).

Eh yes, your beloved is going for a job that altough I don't really like, could give me some money: I'm talking about gardening, in a place 30 minutes of train far from Sydney.
Yesterday I had the trial, today I'm going and if I see that I really don't like it (more because of my boss than for the location) tomorrow, better, Sunday and Monday I'll start looking again..

Day 34

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After last night I've decided to start looking seriously  for a second job: after all, if these kangaroos make people pay 9$ for a cocktail or a shot I can't go on like this!

For fuck sake!

After waking up at this (so early) hour and bear the receptionist who is watching Robin Hood, I lay here for a while. This afternoon we've planned to go to the beach, and this night I'll have my shift (and I'll have to complain to the manager about my wage.. It's not that hard doing some additions and moltiplications!)

Day 33

Vediamo..

Saluti!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yesterday nothing new happened, except for the fact that I woke up soon (9 am) and had more time to do nothing :D

The staff night at Shark Hotel was really good. Had fun and ejoyied the company.

This night here or there I'm going out! And it's payday <3

If I succeed in waking up soon, I'l call 2 farmers, otherwhise the research (of a job) will go on via Internet..
I'm waiting for a mail from Blizzard because I'm not sure if I can apply as I'm not american. We'll see..

Regards!

Day 31

Domani lavoro, lunedì me ne vado a Bronte per cambiare aria..

A domani!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Despite being late, I'm here to write my daily post, just for you beloved.

Today was pretty a lazy day until work time: chatting with roommates, turning in bed over and over, headache for sleeping for a month in these beds.

And now I'm here, celebrating my fucking first month in Australia, writing home, chatting with Germans and thinking about going to buy a cake (it's 2.30am).

I've decided, now I'll go for a walk, Danilo is coming with me; we'll also go to buy a cookie at 7/11..

See you tomorrow!

Day 30

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yesterday has been a quiet day, except for a weird episode happened at the restaurant: 10 minutes before closing, after having tidied up everything and stored all the ingredients in the cool room because the night have been really quiet that the boss decided to closing earlier, half dozen of new customers arrived. The chef was a little upset (read: very angry).

It was a pity, as I was happy of going home soon: plus, for the previous 10 minutes the chef kept on telling me that he could have made every dish he wanted (pasta included) just with a pan; so with a laugh and a fuck he kept on cooking and taking back all the needed ingredients, and I kept on swearing too because I just had finished tiding up.

Today, Friday, it's dedicated to rest and to a staff meeting because of the boss changing.

Tonight I went out in a pub with a roommate who was getting a meal with a voucher; I got a beer and by doing the check - in on Foursquare I won another schooner: little, funny satisfactions!

But the research goes on, once we'll find the farm we have a contact of a guy with the car: HOPE!
